An excellent piece. I think that the only solution is probably to break up the US in some fundamental way. Perhaps forming some version of the European Union.

I am disgusted by what has happened in Texas, their current majority government remind me of the Taliban and their 7th century attitudes towards women and violence. My thoughts are that it is now up to Texans to change that or move out of State.

I think the federal government as it is currently constituted and the Supreme Court are incapable of representing the majority of Americans. Yes the Supreme Court is a non-elected highly political body and should be called out as such.

It will be up to the more progressive states to join together and make some kind of political settlement with the Federal government which diminishes their and the Court's legal authority. Let the red/fascist States form their own Federations and let the people who enjoy living there stay there.

How about a progressive Western Federation and a North Eastern Federation joining together. Oh and we all know where the economic power lies! We've been supporting those fascist red states with our tax dollars for years.

The majority of their residents continue to vote for politicians who deny climate change, deny the reality of COVID, vote in regressive gun laws, deny women equality, gerrymander voting and so much more.

The US political system can't go on bending to the will of the red state minority - it will break. Particularly when the majority of the economic power and tax base lies with the blue states. The sooner the blue State governors realize this and start negotiating, the better.
