As always spot on. I do have one thought which has been increasing in my mind lately. Your point as follows isn't exactly accurate.

In the 1770s, Americans fought and died in the Revolutionary War against British oligarchs and their colonialism policy, that generation’s version of authoritarian fascism.

Weren't the Americans also colonialists who have permanently taken the land from the Native People? I think America and Canada are the only countries where colonists wiped out the entire native population and then permanently occupied their lands.

It was impossible for this to happen in Asia, India and Africa. I don't think this is a good example of authoritarian facism. It's really perhaps an American skeleton that should come out of the closet of its supposed exceptionalism. Time for us all to recognize where our roots lie.

However you are right, it's more than time for the media to recognize the rise of authoritarian fascism In America that is now defined by the mainstream Republican Party.
