As Fermi’s hypothesis has said intelligent life self-destructs. Whether via weapons of mass destruction, planetary pollution, or manufactured virulent disease, it may therefore be the nature of technologically advanced species to commit suicide, existing for only a short time.

Also until our primitive society greatly improves our cultural and spiritual evolution, better that we do disappear. Unfettered global capitalism linked with rampant individualism isn’t going anywhere soon, so I’m with the Fermi on this one. I’m all for starting again and working on a better model of so-called intelligent life either here or somewhere else!
