Being a science fiction writer I actually liked this article. First the aliens are here:

Second they have already established limited contact with various government agencies and individuals, providing wonderful material for speculative/science fiction writers like myself!

Third have you read about the Iargans? Again inspiring material for speculative fiction writers.

If you read this book you’ll learn about a planetary society that might exist out there, and has organized itself beautifully on so-called socialist principles. Admittedly they don’t look like us, but they could be referred to as inter-planetary, bi-ped humans.

I guess what I’m saying is we shouldn’t give up hope just yet. I believe, based on my research, that there are many flourishing inter-planetary civilizations out there.

However sadly you’re right on one point -I could almost guarantee we won’t be one of them.

“If the climate tips into a hothouse Earth scenario, some scientists warn of food and water shortages, hundreds of millions of people being displaced by rising sea levels, unhealthy and unlivable conditions, and coastal storms having larger impacts.Runaway climate change of 4–5 °C can make swathes of the planet around the equator uninhabitable, with sea levels up to 60 metres (197 ft) higher than they are today. Humans cannot survive if the air is too moist and hot, which would happen for the majority of human populations if global temperatures rise by 11–12 °C, as land masses warm faster than the global average.Effects like these have been popularized in books like The Uninhabitable Earth and The End of Nature and The End of Ice (a must read).”

Let’s hope those visitors from elsewhere in our Universe stick around and either help us solve this problem, or take some of us back with them to their planet.

Stay tuned books 2 and 3 on their way!
