When science and technology supercede a civilization's ability to manage itself, and the general educational levels of the majority of its populace, then disaster awaits. We are far too large and diverse to come together as a global society to either manage advanced bio-engineering, pandemics or climate change. We're just about managing our nuclear weapons so far, but who knows whether we'll be able to continue to do so in the future?

The long-term future of humanity ain't looking too bright. We've hit Fermi's great filter and it isn't looking good.

Do the math. 5 billion undereducated people plus science and technology they have no clue about vs. 2 billion educated capitalists using it to destroy the world.
