I am British and fled to America to avoid this exact class system. I was one of the privileged, but after exposure by my American friends to a form of classic Marxism, I came to realize how wrong it was. Little did I realize that by fleeing from one kind of country’s karma, I came to another, whose karma circled around its entire economic wealth being built on genocide, and the exploitation of 8 million African slaves.

Our entire global civilization is built on very shaky foundations-exploitation of the have nots by the haves. In addition it is built on the degradation of the Earth, which in its perfect form has been designed to sustain us.

Now with climate change added to the mix, things will only be exacerbated. Once a tipping point event such as a massive release of methane from the Eastern Siberian Sea happens, I do not believe the rich will fare any better than the poor.

The paucity of food and water caused by a highly probable event of this kind will happen within weeks, and will be the great equalizer. Do not think that the militias recruited from the poor and middle class, the rich hire to protect themselves and their property, will be willing to sacrifice their own lives.

Whatever of our species that is left will hopefully adopt an indigenous lifestyle which values the Earth which sustains us.

I am a speculative/science fiction writer, and I wish I could tell you this scenario is a far out fantasy. Believe me it’s not.
