I applaud your cynicism. You are right, there is no political will and without political will nothing can happen. Vote Democrat in November.

I am writing a series called Until This Last about climate change and what it does to civilization and human beings. It is not dystopian but it does emphasize that the rich and powerful will save civilization for themselves and their ancestors. They include in that group very well educated or technically skilled people who can assist them as they do this.

We have the science and technology to live for years underground and also in northern parts of the planet that are tropical but still liveable. Governments as part of their national defence plans will soon start constructing these kinds of cities and food growing areas, like the ones I describe in my first book in the series, The Burning Years.

I go on from there in the next two to imagine that we are able to find a Phase II energy source like the Dyson Sphere through our contacts with more technologically advanced civilizations. This allows us to live on the surface of our planet once again as it heals. There is also a quest in my books for very long life by the elites so they can continue to live and enjoy their wealth.

I’ve researched the series extensively both through ancient history sources and current and theoritical science and physics. You’ve left out the weather wars that will start to happen in about thirty years, as countries try and manipulate the weather to bring rain and as a result then create too much cloud cover.

Anyway it’s been fun to imagine all of this and balance characters who are positive, creative, and compassionate against those who are not, including all the shades of grey this entails.

I’m afraid that no matter what happens to us we will always be locked in the fight between those who are enlightened and those who like Trump and his cronies are not. It’s the nature of this world and this reality and what it’s all about.

Those of us here who feel we want to work on the enlightened side of stopping climate change should continue to do everything we can including small acts and not give up hope, but always understand we are involved in an archetypal war. The end of this particular game might be our extinction. However know there are many other planets, worlds and species where this battle may have been won. It’s not the end just a stop along the cosmic, quantam highway of consciousness.
