I do think that it's different. Here are two explanations I found. I have often thought we would have a much better world with less testosterone in it! I look forward to your next article since I read everything you write with great interest and admiration!

Testes secrete the hormone testosterone. This hormone causes an increase in aggression and sexual drive. Women's ovaries (and adrenal glands) also produce this hormone, but to a much lesser degree. The high levels of this hormone corresponds to the higher level of sex drive in men.

Having no other conduit to physical comfort but sexualized touch can lead to an obsessive focus on just that. For many men, sex becomes validation, plain and simple. Sexual frequency becomes everything; the metric for defining a good life. In long term relationships this can be a challenging burden.
