I just finished reading two articles on Brexit. They are both by extraordinary writers and very articulately describe a group of voters who were blind to the generational consequences of their voting. They basically screwed themselves and their country for a generation, winning a battle but losing the war.

I absolutely support your theory that any intervention whatsoever to take a legitimate vote away from Bernie would be suicide. However my fear is that no matter whether Biden gets on the ticket fairly with a plurality of votes, Bernie voters will still take their balls and go home, and follow the treacherous path of those who voted for Brexit.

What I want to say to them is read “The End of Ice”. This is the real war we are fighting, not one about which Democratic candidate is best. The simple fact is that our environment cannot take four more years of someone who will continue to destroy this planet’s future and America’s environmental future.

In “The End of Ice” the author offers no hope, he believes we are basically done and instead offers us a way to mourn the death of our planet. Are these Bernie or Bust voters going to agree with him and hand in the towel? Or on the other hand will they cast a vote on the best option we have outside of Trump and his cronies to try and avert the disastrous effects of climate change? And I might add the disastrous effects of his lifting all environmental protections and exposing children and nature to massive doses of carcinogenics.

If they want to keep focusing on the fairness of the system (one I might add which was never fair) and take their balls home, the long-term consequences of their decision is that they, like Dah Jamail, also believe there is no hope. By not voting or voting for Trump they’ll condone humanity continuing to boil slowly like a lobster in water.

In fact if they and everyone else who votes in this election does not seriously consider this one issue-the survival of our species-they’ll all have a strong hand in its suicide. Yes they’ll be following the pied piper of tribalism and bad sportsmanship right over the edge of the cliff.
