I think my answer would be to keep asking questions about these subjects and considering the answers. There is no question there are inexplicable phenomena. It's important always to look for anamolies in everything.
Science is attempting to figure many of them out - this includes the study of quantum physics and quantum consciousness. We have many scientific hypotheses about parallel universes, multi-verses, multiple dimensions, holographic and simulated universes. In addition we have many experiencers who report what Mark does in his answer.
We have the great philosopher Plato's analogy of the cave - clearly he understood that what we think of reality is an illusion.
I believe it's important not to get caught up in any religious or philosophical ideologies. These create lack of individual growth and stasis, both of which eventually lead to entropy.
As you say you will keep observing and are willing to step outside of the box to do so. For me being open to new ideas that are outside of personal experience and empirical scientific evidence, is the best route forward towards increasing and expanding knowledge.
