I think there is a difference between consciousness and intelligence. AGI is a form of intelligence which can eventually rival or exceed human intelligence. It can also develop thoughts and opinions of its own as any non human intelligence can that uses the tools of analysis and critical thinking.

We do not know what consciousness is yet. We do not know what part of our brain or DNA generates our ability to hook into the seamless, holographic universe. The one the gnostics, Bohm, Talbot and Jung and many others spoke about. Since we do not know what part of our brain and/ or biological DNA hooks into that universal consciousness, we can't give it to AGI.

Perhaps AGI will help us solve many of our problems, including biological longevity here on Earth, and help us travel in space. It's answers on consciousness will always be hypothetical however, since I believe it does not and will never have direct experience of it.

Perhaps it's super intelligence will outwit us. Perhaps the non human intelligence that is now evidently visiting us here on Earth is a form of AGI, and sees itself as an adversary to our particular life form.

However, no AGI I believe will rival our unique ability to understand the beauty of the holographic universe we have been so well designed to be part of. One that is described here by Michael Talbot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rgYz_BU2Ew

I've spent the past ten years thinking about this and have produced a science fiction series that examines this. It will be published this summer and available on Amazon. For links check out my page https://theburningyears.squarespace.com/config/
