I would advise you stop worrying about the debate and focus on you, your families and your communities well being. Vote for the democratic candidate of course, though in the state of CT it's an irrelevant. Do travel to PA, WI, Michigan to help get out the vote.
Our best hope however for those of us who live in progressive states like I do, is to support democratic governments in our state and in our local towns and cities. Governments that manage the effects of climate change well. Nothing else matters.
I feel sorry for the folks who live in red states but I have no ability to influence their state and local governments, so it is as if they live in a different country to me. The concept of the US is busted - it does not exist.
When half of the population support a thug and a felon for President then the unity we might have possessed as a country in the past no longer exists. All I have read about is how Biden failed in the debate. What should have been written is that Trump failed even more badly in real life. I am sick and tired of the news media droning on and on about one ninety minute debate. I absolutely refuse to read or follow anything more on the debate. The New York Times is the worst...whine whine whine. All those weighty columnists and not one sensible word out of them.
I have realized it does no good to fret about national politics. I am a science fiction and futurist writer and my advice is find a good place to live that has sufficient water and food growing options. A place that will not suffer from excessive heat, tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes and fires. A place where sensible governance still exists. That would be the Northeast.
No we cannot control the CO2 above us, but we can control how we live and survive together as a group of humans who care for each other in small states and towns. Encourage your towns and cities to get off the grid and provide energy locally. Support your local farmers. Learn how to hunt game in your woods and locate free sources of water such as rivers and lakes. Tap into the water table and figure out how to conserve rainwater.
I can assure you the federal government, the one percenters, the big corporations, the republican fascists and religious nuts who want to take over the US will not give a wit about your or your families well being or your quality of life.
As humans history has shown in times of stress we elect despots and put into place feudal systems of governance. They always fail us and have done for thousands of years.
