I would agree with you that the political system in the US is broken. We have a turbo charged minoritarian government. We also have a Senate and heavily politicized Supreme Court that does not represent the majority of Americans. Continuing to pretend that we have a functioning government by Democrats and taking part in it is like feeding cancer rather than excising it. Until a group of Democrats - possibly blue state governors - take on this issue we are heading towards chaos. Unfortunately progressives do not have a strong enough political or economic base to change the system. Democratic governors have the votes and the economies to do so.

I am watching with interest how the enforcement of Roe across state borders goes. The FBI has no mandate to enforce anything. Will a Republican Congress pass a new slavery act - where women and abortion providers can be extradited from one state to face justice in another? Will there be refugee agencies in blue states that will take part in the resettlement of fugitive women and their families?

I predict that we are going to see increasing conflicts between blue and red states on this issue. I also believe we will see conflict between blue states and a red-controlled federal government. I think Republicans will begin to understand that you cannot continue to enforce minoritarian government on a majority of Democratic voters.without resorting to overt military facism. Add the effects of climate change, and you have Octavia Butler's extraordinarily prophetic book The Parable of the Sower becoming our future.
