I'm sure you've heard of the Hartford Convention. This was when delegates from Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont met in 1815 to discuss secession. They were fed up with the balance of political power that gave the South control of the national government. They were also fed up with Madison's mercantile policies and progress of the 1812 War. They had put together their grievances in a document that they carried to DC, but as they arrived the War ended and they lost their leverage.

I agree with your thoughts entirely. You cannot continue to have a Federal Government controlled by a minority. Look at the Senate. It's a ridiculous institution that is completely outdated. Two senators from South Dakota with its population of 270 thousand and two from California with its population of millions. Add to this the fact that the states which are the most successful from a financial point of view are forced to support poorer states, which vote red and force them to live under a government which does not support their values or interests.

I am a strong advocate for the break up of the US as you describe. Better to do it peacefully than violently. Great ideas. Unfortunately it won't happen that way - Jan 6 was the beginning of our second Civil War. It will only get worse from there. Democrats can also challenge election results. They were lucky Al Gore was such a gentleman. He won that election fair and square and they took it from him. That was in fact the beginning of the erosion of a fair US democracy, and its been under assault ever since by the conservative, white, so-called christian minority.
