I've decided our system of democracy just doesn't work. It's a complete failure. I one hundred percent support freedom of the press and speech as well as a strong legal system. Which we have for the most part. I can still write this without being arrested and thrown in jail. Medium writers can continue to express themselves without fear of reprisal. If we lived in Russia or China that would not be the case.

The American political system is broken and has been for years. Citizen's United helped to destroy it as well as all the lobbying and money that currently undermines it. Now we have a majoritarian government.

Under Republican Presidents we have had a minoritarian government for years now (they haven't received the popular vote for a long time). We have made no serious efforts to fix this problem.

You cannot have a Senate where two Senators represent North Dakota's population (250,000 thousand) and two senators representing California where there are mililions etc. etc. and call it a democracy. Of course there are those will say we aren't a democracy we're a republic! Pox on a republic.

Looks like Trump has fair winds right now. In some ways he is a fitting conclusion to our American story. A harsh lesson on the futility of our obsession with our own exceptionalism. We could possibly have a convicted criminal sitting in a Georgia jail running the country. Karma sucks.

I truly believe we should all be impartially taught civics and history from an early age, and that everyone should sit an examination (like driving a car) before they vote, If they pass only then should they be allowed to vote.

You cannot leave the future of a country in the hands of people who do not understand the issues and are easily propagandized. Propogands is what is destroying our world generally and will continue to do so until we have no civilization left.

We will loose it either through the effects of climate change, a nuclear war, or with the help of an external /internal artificial intelligence which continues to easily turn us against each other. We'll end up being .just a few wandering tribes.

In conclusion, we will have received a big F as an advanced species. Let's hope other humanoids are more successful than us, and make it successfully somewhere else in this large, experimental and complex universe.
