Let me elaborate. I believe everyone in the world, and especially the world's children, deserve to have health-care, decent housing, a good education and proper nutrition. Once this has been achieved then my GOAL has been met.
If people are comfortable in their middle class life they are less likely to have sympathy for those without, and less likely to voluntarily give it up for those without.
The American middle class lifestyle is based on rampant consumerism and individualism, and that is what has destroyed our relationships with each other and the environment and our planet.
Throw in over-population and if everyone who has been born aspires to live a comfortable middle class lifestyle (as defined in a capitalist society), then our planet has major problems.
My vision is for a high-tech civilization where people live in harmony with each other, share essential resources and deeply respect our planet and everything on it. Most importantly it is a civilization that prioritizes taking care of all of its children.
Kasserian Ingera is what I would like for us to make as our GOAL not a comfortable middle class. This is still the traditional greeting among the Masai, acknowledging the high value that the Masai always place on their children's well-being. ... "All the children are well," means that life is good. It means that the daily struggles of existence, even among a poor people, does not preclude proper caring for its young.
