Physicist Leonard Susskind has told us that the laws of physics are described in two dimensions rather than three. This means our 3D reality is all contained upon a 2-dimensional outer surface, which is then projected to create our perception of reality within a complex hologram. The complicated concept was explained by mathematics professor Kostas Skenderis, of the University of Southampton thus:

Imagine that everything you see, feel and hear in three dimensions (and your perception of time) in fact emanates from a flat two-dimensional field. The idea is similar to that of ordinary holograms where a three-dimensional image is encoded in a two-dimensional surface, such as in the hologram on a credit card. However, this time, the entire universe is encoded!

Holography is a huge leap forward in the way we think about the structure and creation of the universe. Einstein’s theory of general relativity explains almost everything large scale in the universe very well, but starts to unravel when examining its origins and mechanisms at quantum level. Scientists have been working for decades to combine Einstein’s theory of gravity and quantum theory. Some believe the concept of a holographic universe has the potential to reconcile the two.

How does this pertain to mind-altering drugs. Well we’ve been created as perfect biological machines that can play around and access different pieces of that hologram whenever we want. These drugs show us how to do that, but there are many other ways such as meditation, near death experience and astral travel which have enabled humans to determine and observe the changing nature of what we call reality.

I have never used drugs or any psychedelics. I do think however that many humans under proper supervision could benefit from using them in a limited fashion.

For instance it might help them, outside of the confines of religious doctrine, idealogies and beliefs, to explore some of the most fundamental questions we as humans face — what is the nature of our world, our universe, our consciousness?

There are no easy answers, and even with our increased understanding of science and technology, they continue to evade us. It’s an exciting personal journey to begin, and as long as our planet is still here and we don’t destroy it, the horizons for understanding our place and purpose in “the matrix of a larger reality”, are boundless.
