Socialism is not communism. The brand of communism practiced in both Russia and Venezeula is not what the pure definition of communism is.
Communism is a political theory derived from Karl Marx, advocating class war and leading to a society in which all property is publicly owned and each person works and is paid according to their abilities and needs.
This system has actually never been implemented anywhere in any country in its purest form. Never in the so-called communist countries because of political and economic corruption. Because of a class system of plutocrats that never went away and stashed all the money that belonged to the so-called people in Swiss bank accounts.
Socialism on the other hand is quite different. Socialism is a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole. As you can see quite different to communism..
Had we actually been a socialist country like the Scandinavian countries are, our response to COVID 19 would have been quite different. Guess what everyone there now makes 80% of their salaries so they are not going hungry or loosing their houses. Secondly since their health care is not tied to their jobs they haven't lost that human right either. And most of all guess what? Their economies will rebound much more swiftly than ours will because they will unfortunately be able to remain consumers.
I believe Bernie Sanders has many of the right ideas for this country, and so the leftists you so despise - commies as you might call them, would actually have saved us from what has happened as a result of the pandemic. An economic depression and a miserable ten years. Biden will however I believe adopt many of Sanders humanitarian policies, particularly if the Dems also get the Senate. Full steam ahead!
In my mind we need socialism very badly. This will ensure that the community of middle americans are in charge of regulating and owning their own future and that of their childrens. Not seceding that right to the one percent. These robbers and pirates have sold middle america a sackful of bs so that they can protect their wealth and privilege.
Until middle america takes that right back and votes in a socialist government we will always just be servants and enablers to the Zuckerberg's, Bezos's and Musk's of this world. The ones who are actually pulling all of the strings. Pull back the curtain and show the real villains for who they are.
