The problem is the civilization we've created is for the most part controlled by thoughtfless and greedy people. Do we want to save a world where these people have complete control of our lives, and we continue to be slaves to late stage capitalism? As a science fiction writer I imagine us getting a second chance at creating a society that is not based on kleptocracy, plutocracy and capitalism. Doesn't the new phoenix have to rise out of the ashes of a burning world order and a rebellious earth. I believe it does.

Our artists and visionaries have proved we are better than what we see happening in America, Russia, China and Israel/Gaza for a start. The issue of who and what we have become and are doing to our environment and everyone else that inhabits it with us is much more profound. It lies at the very nature of who and what we are as human beings and what we must become.
