The series Extrapolations on Apple TV captures exactly what you are saying in this article. I personally think it is a brilliant series. It ends on a note of hope that I doubt is accurate. It also leaves out the dystopia which will surround all of this for most people - but Olivia Butler captures this well in her Parable of the Sower.
