There is a basic problem with a so-called democratic political systems. You have to have a well educated population for it to work. You have to have a population of voters which understand the balance between individuality and commonality. You can't teach unbiased civics in the schools because parents and leadership don't want it there. They wish to persist in the propagation of primitive, destructive, ideologies for various reasons - mass indoctrination of children without allowing critical thinking.

Yes it's all about the basic human instinct for domination and power, enhanced in a capitalist system by access to resources. Males and patriarchy have lead the way for years and continue to do so as our planet implodes. We're too late for gender equality I'm afraid, but perhaps somewhere over the rainbow bluebirds fly?
