Until we get rid of the religious fairy tales still being promoted as fact nothing will change for us humans. Faith allows people to believe that a fetus carries what I would call consciousness. We have absolutely no scientific proof of when this occurs in humans if it does. At the moment of conception or at the moment of birth? What is consciousness - we still don't know. Is it separate to the brain or a part of it - we still don't know.

In fact to take this argument further we have absolutely no idea whether god exists, whether humans are important to god, if there is life after death. We have no scientific proof of any of this.

Many Americans are now using their faith-based beliefs to intrude on public life in every way. What about separation of church and state - that's gone out the window. The Supreme Court is full of Catholics. I was brought up as one and know exactly who they are and what they think. Catholicism, and many other fundamentalist religions, are and always will be a method for male patriarchy to use faith-based beliefs to make women into second class citizens.

Until we get laws based on faith-based beliefs out of our statehouses and our Congress and Courts, women will always be second class citizens.

It is only through science that I have come to believe that there is an extra-ordinary force at work in our universe. What it is I do not know, definitely not human. It's knowledge and display of math and syncretic systems is remarkable.

To pretend to know what is the right faith-based belief system to follow is the height of human arrogance. It is facism to force these faith-based laws on others.
