You are spot on. I have been writing science fiction about climate change for some time. I believe that only a few will survive and that will be underground with advanced technology. I hope it's a kindly virus that takes most of us out so as to avoid terrible suffering by human children. Perhaps our fate was also the fate in the long distant past of others on other planets or even on this planet who knows. Perhaps these others are the ones visiting us now from the present or future - who knows.

Anyway massive population wipe out - elites and educated surviving underground. A new form of feudalism rampant and genetic modification a matter of course. But there is hope for a more positive future as the Earth recovers in the far distant future at least in my books!

Could also be breakaway human civilizations on Mars and the Moon with help from others. Thus level of secrecy around what technology our governments currently really have access to.

We are on the same page around Neo-liberal capitalism and human greed and how it has screwed us all. The question is how to get rid of both in the future? Breed it out of us and add patriarchy to the list.
